Best Season to Visit Tokyo

Autumn and spring are the best seasons to book your dream flight to Tokyo, as both seasons have comfortable temperatures.

On the other hand, summer is the worst time for visiting. Unless you are a fan of long museum lines and filled to the end subways, avoid visiting during this season.

Similarly, it is not recommended to visit in winter as you will miss out on the fun activities you could do at Tokyo parks.

Summer Season: The months of June, July, and August mark the summer and tourist season. The airfare to Tokyo is extremely high, hotels are fully booked, and there are crowds at every famous attraction.

The temperature is also not pleasant enough to enjoy sightseeing. It is extremely hot, humid, and sticky. So, the summer season is a big no-no according to us.

Some of the events are:

  • Sumida River Fireworks (in July)
  • Asakusa Samba Festival (in August)

Autumn Season: September, October, and November are the best months to visit Tokyo. The temperature is pleasant enough to enjoy sightseeing and taking a walk across the beautiful landscapes of Tokyo. The crowds are also fewer so lesser rates of plane tickets, hotel reservations, and attraction tickets.

However, there might be rainfall in September and October so do not forget to carry an umbrella with you.

Some of the events are:

  • Tokyo International Film Festival (in September and October)
  • Culture Day (in November)

Winter Season: December, January, and February may not see a lot of tourists due to low temperatures. Yet, the hotel prices and airfare are quite expensive due to the onset of winter holidays.

Some of the events are:

  • New Year’s Day (in January)
  • National Foundation Day (in February)

Spring Season:  As mentioned earlier, spring is possibly the best season to enjoy the real essence of Japan. The cherry blossoms bloom and there’s greenery in every corner of Tokyo. March, April, and May are also the peak months so you may have to pay additional charges due to the Golden Week (public holidays for the locals).

However, in this season, you cannot compare the high spirits of the city with any other city. It’s unparalleled.

Some of the events are:

  • AnimeJapan (in March and April)
  • Golden Week (in April and May)
